5.  WINTER, SPRING

   

LYRICS

Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall.
I am short and I am tall.
Faster, faster, up and down.
Now sit down and touch the ground.

SET-UP

The children should be sitting on the floor of the classroom. Repeat the chant and actions a few times by yourself. Soon some students will follow.

ACTIONS

Winter 

The students (sitting on the floor) shiver.

Spring 

Jump up in the air.

Summer 

Wave your hands like a fan to cool yourself off.

Fall. 

Drop down on the ground again.

I am short. 

Put your hand over your head to indicate that you are short.

And I am tall. 

Stand up again and make yourself as tall as possible.

Faster, faster, up and down. 

Jump up and down as fast as you can. Do this for a few seconds. Keep repeating "up and down".

Now sit down and touch the ground. 

Quickly drop down again and sit on the floor. You can ask the last student to sit on the floor to sing a song or answer a question.

USES 

1. A few minutes fun to start the class, or get the energy back up after a long period of drills.
2. To teach or review the seasons.
3. To teach or review simple descriptions and action words: tall, short, sit down, touch.
4. Teach or review commands: faster, sit down.
